Lucille Catherine Gordon Effler

Lucille Catherine Gordon Effler peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 90. She was born on Wednesday, March 18, 1936, in Louisiana to the late Euthalia and Preston Gordon. She was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

Lucille was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else. Her faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she made sure her children knew His love and guidance.

A spicy little lady who never met a stranger, Lucille had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. She found joy in the simple things, like sitting on her porch watching the birds and cooking old-fashioned favorites such as red beans and rice with cornbread. Her family treasured the many Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings spent at her home, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Lucille will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sparnecht; son, Alan Effler (Monette); grandchildren, Tracey Ciolino (Jospeh II), Christopher “David” Perrilloux, Gregory Effler (Charlotte), Reggie Effler, Jr., and Jacob Effler; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua, Alexander, Shy, Hayden, London, and Brighton; daughter-in-law, Deborah Effler; as well as numerous great- grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Carl Effler; parents, Euthalia Marsalete Holiday Gordon and Preston Purnell Gordon; son, Reginald Carl Effler; grandson, Joshua Effler; son-in-law, Raymond Sparnecht, Jr.; and eight brothers, Paul, Willie, Ray, Wallace, Purnell, Daniel, Shepard, and Little Boy Gordon.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation starting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in Wetmore Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
