Louis Earl Tonglet, Jr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 12, 1922 and passed away at North Oaks Hospital, January 14 at the age of 95 years. At the time of his death he was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana. He was the son of Minerva Young Tonglet and father Louis Earl Tonglet Sr. Earl served his country in World War II and was in the battle of the Bulge. Previously he was owner of Dixie Disposal, A-1 Disposal, a retired fire fighter for Jefferson Parish, and a school bus driver for Jefferson Parish. He was a member of our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw, Louisiana. Earl was preceded in death by his first wife, Phinnie Scimeca Tonglet, son Glenn Tonglet, Sisters Louvaine Medlin and Marilyn Gomez, and brother Clovis Tonglet. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Tonglet, son Louis Earl Tonglet III (Janie), son Gary Tonglet (Pam), son Aaron Tonglet, Son Jason Tonglet, sister Ellen Tonglet Lafosso, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, stepchildren David Bowen (Pandy), Jane Webster (husband David), Jackie Steelman (husband Fred), six step grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren, and one great great step grandson. Also survived by his two German shepherds, Tera and Rhett. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church at 14450 LA-442, Tickfaw, La on Thursday, January 18 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Independence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice or Our Lady of Pompeii Church will be appreciated.
