LOUIS "AL" ELLISON, 90, OF PONCHATOULA, LA. PASSED AWAY FEBRUARYY 23, 2022 IN HAMMOND, LA.
VISITATION WILL BE FROM 10:00 AM TO 11:00 AM AND THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 AM FEBRARY 28, 2022 AT 1ST BAPTIST CHURCH OF PONCHATOULA, 325 E PINE ST, PONCHATOULA, LA. WITH REV DAVID CRANFORD OF 1ST BAPTIST CHURCH, OFFICIATING.
AL WAS BORN IN MAGNOLIA, AR TO LUTHER NALON ELLISON AND EVELYN SANDERS ELLISON ON OCTOBER 19TH 1931. HE MARRIED DORIS JEAN WOOLSEY ELLISON ON MAY 16, 1953 IN ABILENE, TX. HE SERVED IN THE NATIONAL GUARD THEN ENLISTED IN THE ARMY AS A CORPORAL AND SERVED IN GERMANY AS A RADAR TECHNICIAN IN THE ARTILLARY DIVISION ON SEPTEMBER OF 1954, WAS DISCHARGED BACK TO THE US ON SEPTEMBER 8, 1955. HE THEN BEGAN A LONG CAREER WITH EXXON MOBIL OIL WHERE HE RETIRED AS A SUPERINTENDANT AT THE EXXON MOBIL BULK PLANT IN METAIRIE, LA IN 1991. HE WAS A DEVOTED HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, GREAT GRANDFATHER AND CHRISTIAN. HE LOVED WORKING IN HIS GARDEN AND GROWING VEGETABLES. HUNTING AND FISHING WERE JUST A COUPLE OF HIS PASSIONS IN LIFE.
AL IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS L.N. ELLISON AND EVELYN SANDERS ELLISON, AND HIS BROTHERS BONNIE ELLISON, HARRY ELLISON, VIRGIL ELLISON, BOBBY ELLISON AND HIS SISTER VELMA ELLISON CORLEY AND GREAT-GRAND DAUGHTER AMELIA GRACE BROUSSARD. AL IS SURVIVED BY HIS CHILDREN, DAUGHTERS CHERYL ELLISON BROUSSARD (GREG), SANDRA ELLISON DUPREE (BUD), HIS SON KYLE ELLISON (ADRIANE) AND HIS SISTER MARY LOU ELLISON HUDSON.
HE HAS 7 GRANDCHILDREN, JOE DUPREE (KEMPY), SCOTT BROUSSARD (BRANDY), ROBERT BROUSSARD (MARY JANE), JARED BROUSSARD, TERYAN BROUSSARD (KYLA), CANDICE DUPREE CRAWFORD (JUSTIN) AND TY ELLISON
HE HAD 8 GREAT-GRAND CHILDREN, RAGAN DUPREE, BRIGHTON BROUSSARD, LOGAN BROUSSARD, ELIJAH BROUSSARD, GAVIN BROUSSARD, ISSAC BROUSSARD, PARKER CRAWFORD AND ELLA CRAWFORD
AL LOVED GETTING TOGETHER WITH HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR HOLIDAYS AND BIRTHDAY EVENTS. HE WILL BE LOVED AND MISSED BY ALL THAT KNEW HIM.
THE FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO THANK SUMMERFIELD ASSISTED LIVING AND MODERN HOSPICE FOR TAKING SUCH GOOD CARE OF OUR FATHER IN HIS FINAL DAYS.
