It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Lonnie G. Williams, who departed this life on September 30, 2024, at the age of 69. He was a devoted husband, a cherished father, a proud grandfather, a loving great-grandfather, a brother, uncle, and great-uncle to many whose lives he touched with his kindness and wisdom.
Born on January 15, 1955, Lonnie lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family. He married his soulmate, Evelyn Williams, on November 4, 1972, with whom he shared 45 years of a beautiful marriage. Together, they built a family rooted in love, strength, and faith.
As a father, Lonnie was a guiding light, always there to lend a hand, offer advice, or share a laugh. His love extended far beyond his children: Lonnie, Charles, Ronald Williams, Tonya Williams-Breland, Paulette Williams, and Betty Williams Aday, along with their spouses Julia, Melissa Williams, Mark Breland, and Josh Aday. He also became a beloved grandfather, known affectionately as "PawPaw," and a great-grandfather, lovingly called "Old PawPaw." His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joys of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to share stories, offer wisdom, or show them how much they meant to him.
His grandchildren include: Brandon Williams-Schiro, Shane Williams-Schiro and Jamie Schiro, Travis Williams, Ronald Williams Jr., Ethan Williams, Nathan Williams, Karly Williams, Crystal Williams, Kimberly Tabatha Breaux Williams, Kari Breaux Williams, Rickey Breaux Williams, Tommy Thomas Williams, Katrina Leah Williams, Khaleesi Williams, Cody Williams, Nicholas Williams, Arthur and Aaron Craddock, Alec Williams and Sarah Harrison, Samantha Jordan, Frankie Williams, Kelsie and Chad Johnson, Connor Breland, Denise Williams, Sabrina Williams and Billy Hall, Bridget Aday and Hunter Noto, Lonnie Aday, Jacob Aday, Charlie Peters Williams and Selena Chaney, Dillion Fincher, Jordan Dwyer, Travis Dwyer, Skyler Dwyer
His great-grandchildren include: Izabella, Chloe, and Niklaus Jordan; Elijah, Adi, and Ezrah Johnson; Delilah Hall; Baby Williams-Aday, Isiaha and La’davious Williams; Savanah Callihan; Ariana Williams; Sarah and Carlos Chaney; Harper and Lincoln Williams; Regan and Asher Schiro; Olivia Schiro; and Nora Breaux.
In addition to being a devoted family man, Lonnie was a cherished brother to Robert Thomas Williams, Jessie Daniel Williams, Ronald Ervin Williams, Virginia and Larry Williams, Sharon and Michael Gagneaux and Joseph Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Ruth Potter Williams (Ruthie) his parents, Louis T. Williams (Bud) and Evonne Dell Murphy Williams (Dale) and his brothers Robert Thomas Williams (Buddy), Jessie Daniel Williams (Danny), Ronald Ervin Williams (Rocky) Grandson Kyle Dwyer.
His siblings held a special place in his heart. He was also a beloved uncle and great-uncle, providing guidance, laughter, and love to many nieces, nephews, and their families, along with countless other family members and dear friends.
Lonnie will be remembered for his warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength that will continue to live on through those he touched.
He has joined his loving wife, Evelyn Ruth Potter Williams, his mother, father, and siblings in Heaven and is rejoicing in peace. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit and the love he gave so freely will remain in our hearts forever.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation held on October 6, 2024 at Amite Pentecostal Church, located at 14054 LA-16, Amite City, LA 70422 at 2:00 pm, until the funeral service to celebrate his life begins, at 3:00 PM at the Amite Pentecostal Church. Interment will be held at Williams Cemetery, Par Road 31, Franklinton, LA.
May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before him.
