Linnie Butler Crayton Combel passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 92. One of eleven children, Linnie was born on Wednesday, April 22, 1925 in Joyce, Louisiana to the late Ellie Henderson Butler and Nathan Butler. Her family moved to Jonesboro, Louisiana where she lived until age 14, when she moved to the Woodhaven Community of Tickfaw, Louisiana. There she married Elmore Crayton and raised seven children.

Linnie is survived by her beloved children; daughter, Mildred Crayton Christiana and her husband, Charlie; daughter, Brenda Crayton Giacone and her husband, Joe; son, Fonzia Crayton and his wife, Bonnie; son, Luther Crayton and his wife, Cindy; son, Porter Crayton and his wife, Barbara; son, Allen Crayton and his wife, Jean; daughter, Veronica Crayton Bankston and her husband, Roy; a sister, Etoile Butler Graham of West Monroe; Also survived by 23 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmore Crayton and Theron Combel; parents, Nathan and Ellie Butler; two sons-in-law, Buster Maggio and Ronnie Polito; five brothers and four sisters.

Linnie was a resident of the Woodhaven Community in Tangipahoa Parish for over 75 years. She was a charter member of the Woodhaven Baptist Church where she loved attending Sunday services. She is remembered by all who knew her for her faith, quick wit, and a spirit that inspired everyone around her. She loved attending the Hammond Council on Aging, listening to music, dancing, and she loved her flowers; but most of all, she loved and cared for her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Friday, August 4, 2017, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

On Saturday, August 5, 2017, the visitation will be held at Woodhaven Baptist Church, 10318 Highway 1064, Tickfaw, Louisiana 70466, from 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 pm.

Interment will follow in Woodhaven Baptist Church Cemetery, Tickfaw, Louisiana.

Serving as pallbearers: Joe Giacone, Roy Bankston, Bryan Maggio, Adam Crayton, Ronnie Polito, Dewayne Crayton, Derek Crayton, Chad Seal, and Brad Christiana.

The family would like to thank North Oaks Hospital, Belle Maison, and New Century Hospice for the excellent care our mother received. Also, special thanks to caretakers Wendy and Shay, for their dedicated care and service.
