Our sweet Linda Ann Ross of Monroe, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024.
Linda was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on August 1, 1945. Her early education took place at Annunciation Academy. She was a member of several social clubs, all the while being extremely studious. She graduated Valedictorian from Pine Bluff High School. She attended Arkansas A & M (University of Arkansas at Monticello) and was voted Miss A & M (All-College Beauty). There, she met and later married the love of her life, Walker Lamar Ross; they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. Together, they reared their three children in Colorado and Arizona.
Linda obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Ottawa University, graduating summa cum laude. Her children and grandchildren best received her love of teaching in the home. Faith was of great importance to Linda, and she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She found endless joy in giving gifts, cooking for, and entertaining her family and countless guests.
She traveled extensively with her husband across Europe, Thailand, and Singapore, teaching English in Tokyo when Walker was Captain at Japan Airlines. While Linda endured multiple illnesses, she happily continued her constant love, care, and support of all her relatives and friends, whether through acts of service or endless prayers. All of us will greatly miss her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Finche and Marcelline Evelyn “Bobbye” Duffy of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She is survived by her husband, Walker Lamar Ross; children Constance, Nancinell, and Clay; beloved grandchildren who call her Nana: Jenny, Kaylee, Cory, Alanna, Rachael, Jacques, Blake, and Emilie; great-grandchildren Isabelle, Gavin, Lydia, and Eleanor; brother David Duffy of Madison, Georgia, and sister Annetta Hill of Monroe, Louisiana; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A local memorial will take place at a later date, followed by an internment for her family members at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, Arkansas. The family expresses their sincere appreciation for the sympathy and kindness shown during this time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Hammond and Ponchatoula. An on-line guest book is available at www.harrymckneely.com.
