Leslie Melvin Loftis went to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 7, 2024, surrounded by his family at the young age of 93. He was born on Friday, July 18, 1930, in Olton, Texas to the late Everett and Myrtie Loftis. Leslie proudly served in the US Army and spent most of his deployment overseas in Germany. After serving in the military, Leslie went on to retire from AT&T with many years of dedicated service. Leslie’s main passion in life was fishing. In his later years, when he didn’t have a fishing pole in tow, you could find him busy on a woodworking project. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family. Leslie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by daughters, Lisa Huskey (Bob) and Cindy Gentry (Darren); daughter-in-law, Debbie Loftis (Byron); 13 grandchildren, Stephanie (Steve), Justin, Ryan, Emilie, Alisa, Valerie, Lyndon (Amanda), Rodney (Kim), Melissa (Bill), Allison (Sean), Jessica (Joel), Patrick (Steffani), and Krista; sisters, Nellie Henderson (Dub), Lenora Bennings (Poodle), and Barbara Walters (Doug); and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Leslie was preceded in death by his son, Leslie Byron Loftis, and his brothers, Merle Loftis and Noel Loftis.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2686 US- 167 in Sheridan, Arkansas from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville, Arkansas.
