Leroy Grant

Leroy Grant, age 79, of Ponchatoula passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, less than 2 weeks after his beloved wife Rose Grant. Theirs was a love story that spanned 61 years. He was born on April 26, 1941.

Leroy is survived by his children Barbara Gibbs (Scott), Larry Grant (Gwen), and Melissa Marse; his grandchildren, Krista Dawson (Jason), Tommy Gibbs (Jessica), Stephen Grant (Emily), Johnathan Grant (Tamica), April Bruno (Jean), Garrett Marse and Dustin Marse. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Aven Dawson, Carson Dawson, Charlee Gibbs, Amelia Gibbs, Lydia Grant, David Grant, Samuel Grant, Jesse Grant, Aidan Grant, Tristan Grant, Danielle Bruno, Anthony Bruno and Baby Bruno. Leroy is survived by his brothers: Kenneth Grant (Marilyn) and James (Linda), and sister-in-law, Marilyn Grant, whom he considered his big sister.

Leroy is preceded in death by his wife, Rose W Grant, his parents, Ernest and Edna Grant, his brother, Allen, and infant sister.

Leroy served his country 20 years in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Vet. After the corps, he went on to receive both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Theology and also retired from the United States Postal Service. He and his wife, Rose, served in children’s ministries together for many years. If you didn’t know the Lord, Leroy was going to tell you about salvation. He loved to talk, tell stories and laugh. Leroy and Rose always came as a pair! They married just over 2 weeks after meeting each other on a blind date in 1959 and stayed together until her passing on June 1, 2020. He wasn’t staying on this earth without her! After suffering together with dementia, they are now healed and together with Jesus!

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 10:00 am in Rosaryville Cemetery, Ponchatoula, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give to your local church ministry in their memory. Thank you to all those who have prayed for the Grant family during the loss of Mr. Leroy and Mrs. Rose Grant.
