Leonard "Tank" Genco Jr., of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at the age of 79. He was born on August 2, 1940, in Amite, Louisiana, the son of the late Leonard Genco Sr. and Rose Balisteri Genco. Tank was a lifelong educator in Tangipahoa Parish. He touched many lives through football, teaching, and as a member of the school board. Tank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he will be greatly missed.
Tank is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nedra Martello Genco; children, Ronald Genco and wife Lisa, and Mary Genco Parker and husband Chuck; step-children, Brigitte Martello and Bradley Fettes; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Catherine Gioia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tank was preceded in death by his brother, Sammy Genco, and granddaughter, Jaidyn Coslan.
Services will be held privately. Family and friends are encouraged to send condolences and share memories online.
Tank will be laid to rest at Pompeii Cemetery in Tickfaw, Louisiana.
