Lenora Ruth Morris, "Mimi" as she was so lovingly called by so many, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, left this earth on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the age of 94 to be with her Heavenly Father. I can only imagine her joy to be in the presence of God, and reunited with all her loved ones, who left before her.
Ruth was born to William Arthur Ellison and Mary Bernice Ellison on November 25, 1929, in Dunkinsville, Ohio. She graduated from Lynchburg High School in 1948, then married Wilbur Junior Morris on December 8, 1949, in Kentucky, a marriage that lasted for 50 years. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother, and she supported her husband in the Marine Corps for 27 years. "Mimi's" greatest love was doing artwork and crafts with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her family and loved nothing more than to have her house filled with family as well as traveling and visiting family in Ohio. Tré, one of her great grandchildren, says: "She was funny and liked to joke with all of us."
"Mimi" is survived by her four children: Brenda (Bob) Saravalli, Cynthia "Cyndi" (Howard "Charlie") Charlton, William "Tom" (Jeanne) Morris, Michael "Mike" (Elizabeth "Beth") Morris; two sisters: Dorothy Kennedy and Genevieve Canter; six grandchildren: Jason Charlton, Denise Shockley, Ashley Palmer, Matthew Morris, Elizabeth "Bitsy" Aymond, Meagan Stacy; ten great grandchildren: Danie, Seth, Tré, Kiyah, Rayne, Kirk, Kaizlyn, Keirslyn, Orion, Ada; and one great great grandchild: Luna.
Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband: Wilbur "Will" Morris; parents, William Arthur Ellison and Mary Bernice Ellison; four brothers: William Ellison, Charles Ellison, Gerald Ellison, Ronald Ellison; and one sister: Juanita, Whitmer.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm with a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm, with Michael DePhillips officiating.
