Lena Mae Macaluso Amato

Lena Mae Macaluso Amato, 82, from Hammond Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2019 in Houston, Texas.  Lena, a loving mother and grandmother, was surrounded by family at the time of her passing.  Lena was born to Mary and Sam Macaluso on November 7, 1937.   She married the love of her life, Paul Victor Amato from Lutcher.  Lena spent her life supporting her husband in his military career and doting on her children and grandchildren.  She was an active member in the Hammond Jaycees.   

She is survived by her two children, Gwendolyn Amato Fleming and Paul Victor Amato, two grandchildren, Amanda Fleming and Oscar Amato, two siblings, Sam Dorsa and Joe Dorsa and many nieces and nephews. 

Lena has been preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Sam Macaluso, her husband, Paul Victor Amato Sr,and 13 of her 15 siblings, Annie Dorsa, Lucille Musacchia, Angelina Mussachia, Josephine Fuller, Virginia Inzinna, Rosalie Salomone, Sandra Gebbia, Nick Macaluso, Larry Macaluso, Nace Macaluso, Joe Macaluso, Anthony Macaluso, and John Dorsa.   

A Visitation for Lena will beheld on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond. A Funeral Mass Celebrating Lena’s Life will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 am in the church. Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park cemetery in Hammond.
