Laura Muriel Sanchez Pecquet

Laura Muriel Sanchez Pecquet of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 92. She was born on March 21, 1933, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, the wife of Urbain S. Pecquet Jr., daughter of Willie Sanchez and Irene Stevens Sanchez Sleep and stepdaughter of Albert J. Sleep.

Muriel was a beautician who started out working at the Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans, and continued her career by opening her own hair salon while residing in Harvey, Louisiana, called “The Beauty Nook” where she styled hair and provided Electrolysis services until her retirement. Muriel was an accomplished painter and also enjoyed ceramics, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Muriel is survived by two sons, Darryl Pecquet and wife Kathy; Brian Pecquet and wife Linda; two Granddaughters (whom she loved very much) Katie Pecquet Kahn and husband Chad, Allison Pecquet Hamilton and husband Stephen; four Great Grandchildren (that she adored) Beau & Hayes Kahn and Quinn & Carter Hamilton.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Urbain S. Pecquet Jr., parents Willie Sanchez (who was killed in a hunting accident when Muriel was four years old), Irene Stevens Sanchez Sleep, and stepfather Albert J. Sleep.

Family and friends will be received at French Corner Baptist Church in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, located at 39715 Teel Road, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the service starts at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Sandhill Cemetery, located at 40199 Sand Hill Cemetery Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
