Kyle Douglas Parker

On October 16, 2021 at 5:30 PM, a beloved son and brother, Kyle Douglas Parker, passed away at home peacefully after a five month battle with cancer. He was only fifty years old.

Born January 5, 1971 in Hammond, Louisiana to Guy D. Parker and Irma "Ray" (Crouse) Parker, Kyle was the oldest of twin boys. He grew up on the Crouse Farm, where his family home was built in 1976, and the place where he would call his lifelong residence. As a boy, the long days of the summer were filled with hours of adventure playing and exploring the many paths, fields, and barns with his twin, Kevin, and his "best bud" and cousin Troy Wild. Often surrounded by his many cousins and an abundance of friends, Kyle was loved by all! His large family was a shelter and a joy. At a young age, Kyle found his niche in carpentry, and became a skilled carpenter who worked on homes for many Tangipahoa residents. He briefly attended Southeastern Louisiana University, but decided he preferred carpentry, as it gave him access to his favorite place--the great outdoors!

Kyle was an athlete who took great care to condition himself for the game, and he maintained this regiment throughout his life. Kyle loved to bird hunt and fish ponds and lakes. He was in awe of the beauty of nature, and he found his faith in God in his quiet morning walks. Devoted to his parents, Kyle was a rock for his father, who he called his "best friend," and so when his mother was diagnosed with early onset dementia, he stayed close to home to handle the day to day challenges. Kyle never met a stranger. He was kind, giving, and had an energy that made him easy to love.

Kyle is survived by his sisters, Shirlyn and Heather Parker and his twin brother, Kevin Ray Parker, all of Hammond, Louisiana; his beloved nieces and nephews, Jenice Jones, of Houston, Texas; Shay Powell, Alexander "Alex" Brisset, and Garret Brisset, all of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

Kyle was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William "Bill" Parker, of Mandeville, Louisiana; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Crouse; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy D. Parker; and his sister-in-law, Ms. Sylvia A. Parker, all of Hammond, Louisiana.

Kyle will be missed by many lifelong friends and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, October 23, 2021 beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
