Kenneth Salvadore Colona joined his wife in heaven on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at his Hammond residence at the young age of 86. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Salvadore (Sam) and Louise Norweiki Colona. Kenneth was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, "Semper Fi." After his military service he became a man who wore many hats, such as a T.V. Repairman, Air Traffic Controller, Insurance Agent and even a Notary Public. Kenneth was very excited and proud of his most recent accomplishment, graduating in May 2023 from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, becoming the oldest graduate of SLU history. When he was younger he dedicated his time and effort as a Golden Glove Boxer and Football Coach for the Hammond Eagles. He loved to watch LSU sports, talk politics and play golf with his sons. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and son, who is already greatly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves behind his children, Gerald Colona (Alisa), Robert Colona (Arvina), Darryl Colona (Yvette), Cynthia Schouest (Larry), and Darren Colona (Susan); 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Maria Obrecht Colona; granddaughter, Kristi Lynn Colona; siblings, Raymond Colona and Sheryl Colona McLain; and his parents.
The family will hold a private service ceremony at a later date.
The family would also like to thank Modern Home Health/Hospice for their care and compassion given to their father and also their mother in their final journey.
