Katie Schillace Varisco, 86, a resident of Loranger, LA, passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, surrounded by family. She was born April 2, 1935, in Hammond, LA, to Dominick and Annie Schillace.

Katie enjoyed cooking a big, Italian meal for her family and making Italian cookies during the Christmas season. She was a parishioner of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Husser, LA, and devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Her favorite vacation spot was the Great Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She and her family frequently visited the mountains and for many summers, worked the camp store at Elkmont Campground.

She is survived by her four children: Debbie (George) Lerch, Charlie Jr. (Donna) Varisco, Margaret (Anthony) Baglio, Luke (Sandy) Varisco; seven grandchildren: Christopher (Calie) Lerch, Megan Lerch, Jacob Varisco, Caitlin (Dale) Guitreau, Joshua Varisco (Kelsey Lee), Sophie Varisco and Mario Baglio; one great-grandson: Callen Lerch; two step great-grandsons: Carter and Canton Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years: Charlie Varisco, Sr.; parents: Dominick and Annie Schillace; brothers: Felix and Joe Schillace; sisters: Annie Carroll and Jennie Ciampa.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 55720 LA-445, Husser, Louisiana 70442, beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at St. Dominic Catholic Church Cemetery.

Services will be conducted by Rev. Reuben Dykes and assisted by Deacon Nat Garofalo.
