Katie Westmoreland Mauroner Clouate, a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on April 16, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born on April 15, 1940, in Amite, Louisiana, to the late Artie and Lena Westmoreland.
Katie was affectionately known as "MiMi" to her grandchildren, a name she wore proudly because she was far too full of life to be an ordinary grandmother. She had a gift for friendship, never meeting a stranger and always making room in her heart for anyone who needed one. Being a loving person, she opened her home time and again to those in need. She gave her best to every job she held across a career in office management. Kind to her core, she loved her husband, Clem, faithfully and cared for him with devotion through the years. He was the love of her life. They first met at the skating rink, where the two eventually competed together in couples’ roller skating. She loved him till the end. A woman of faith, Katie loved Jesus deeply, sang in the church choir, and found her greatest joy in the old hymns. Church is where Katie met her second husband, David Clouate. You would never meet her without her hair and nails being done. She always enjoyed having a good time, whether at the bowling lanes, browsing her favorite shops, or creating something beautiful with her hands. MiMi cross-stitched pillow covers and handcrafted baby blankets for her grandchildren, something they will treasure and remember her by always.
Katie is survived by her daughters, Brenda M. Leger (Clyde) of Covington, Louisiana and Gayle M. Barreca (David) of Metairie, Louisiana; son, Rev. Rodney C. Mauroner (Marla) of Saraland, Alabama; sister, Jean Williams of Amite, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren, Gerard Spinner (Jennifer), Kristen Geary (Byrne), Matthew Leger, Bradley(Michele), Brandon, Frank (Meagan), and David Barreca, Katie Leingang (Matthew), Aiden, Ethan and Noah Mauroner; 7 great-grandchildren, Emily Gillette (Alex), Daniel, Catherine, Elizabeth and Andrew Spinner, Emma and Brady Leingang; 3 step-daughters, Laura, Angelle, and Michelle Clouate; 5 step-grandchildren, Josue, Salvador, and Olivia Enriquez, Madelyn and Diana Clouate; and many nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Climpston L. Mauroner of 35 years, and her husband, David Adam Clouate, Sr. of 8 years; parents, Artie O. and Lena E. Bennett Westmoreland; brothers, Willie A. Westmoreland, Charles “R.D” Westmoreland, and Wayne Westmoreland; and step-son, David Anthony Clouate.
