Katherine S. Giaratano

Katherine S. Giaratano, age 85 of Mandeville, Louisiana, formally of Independence, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. She was born on Tuesday, December 5, 1933, in Independence, Louisiana, to Joseph and Pauline Pigno Sirchia. Katherine enjoyed life and loved cooking, collecting angels and bingo, but she especially loved spending time with her family.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Frances Veith and her husband Harold, her grandchildren, Tonya Veith Anderson and her husband Joseph, Jr. and Harold Veith III, her great grandchildren, Hannah Anderson Heffner and her husband Andrew and Joseph Anderson III and his wife Ericka, her great great grandchildren, Joseph Anderson IV, Sutton-James Andrew Heffner and Jaxon Joseph Heffner, her brother, Frank Sirchia and his wife Rosalie, her sister, Antonia "Lena" Costa and her special nephews, James Costa and Joseph "Joe" Costa and his wife Andrea, also many other nieces, nephews and close friends.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Pauline Pigno Sirchia, her brother, John V. Sirchia, and her sisters, Christine Gulotta, Frances S. Costa and Annie Cacioppo.

A Visitation for Katherine will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Independence. A Funeral Mass Celebrating Katherine's Life will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 am in the church. Entombment will follow at Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum in Independence.
