Katherine Jane Rae

Katherine Jane Rae passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 91.  She was born on Tuesday, November 25, 1930 in Kansas City, to the late Karolyn and Roy Wright. She was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana. Katherine began her career as an educator at the age of 30. She worked for the Tangipahoa school board for 37 years and even after retiring she continued substituting for an additional two years.

Katherine Jane Rae is survived by her; daughter, Cheryl Rae; son, John Rae, Jr., and his wife Debbie; grandchildren, Michelle Downey Tureau and her husband Charles, Milessa Rae Plemons and her husband William, Carlton Downey and his wife Kim, Melody Steib and her husband Craig, Brandi McGee and her husband Aaron, Kate Rae, as well as 11 great-grandchildren, and her siblings; Dr. John Wright and his wife Anne Rae, Peggy Price, Terry Wright and his wife Mary Ann.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, John "Johnnie" "J.E." Erwin Rae, Sr., her parents; Karolyn and Roy Wright, and her brothers; John Roy Wright III and Dr. Larry Wright.

Relatives and are invited to attend visitation at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 100 W. Church Street, Hammond, LA 70401 on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 pm.
