Joseph "J.V." Dupont

J.V. Dupont, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 in Hammond, Louisiana surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on February 13, 1946 to the late Delmas and Thelma Dupont.  J.V. was a talented carpenter by trade but also was a successful commercial fisherman.  When he wasn't working, he enjoyed deer hunting, bass fishing, piddling in the yard or fixing/breaking something in his shop.  His pride and joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending time with them picking from his fruit trees and boiling crawfish with them made his world go 'round.  J.V. was known to be a vibrant storyteller along with his late brother Garyel, who he would feed off of to get a laugh out of anyone.  It seemed like everywhere he went he knew someone and would always stop to shoot the breeze.  J.V. knew how to have a good time with friends and family, he loved to laugh, dance, party and cut up with the best of them, and he will be deeply missed at his weekly margarita therapy sessions with his family and friends.  He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna Hutchinson Dupont; son, Jay Dupont and wife Laura; grandchildren, Kaelyn, Jaelyn, Jacob; step-grandchildren, John and Nicole; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and McKaleigh; siblings, JoAnne Baiamonte and husband Vincent, Charlene Miller and husband Ronald, Cheryl Dupont, Wayne Dupont and wife Dianne, Donald Dupont and wife Vickie, Mike Dupont and Allison; his playful grandpup, Marley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Kenneth Dupont and Garyel Dupont; sister-in-law, Carolyn Dupont. 

Family and friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
