June Ann Hughes

June Ann Binkley Hughes, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Lancaster, Ohio, and a longtime resident of Ponchatoula and former resident of Gretna, June was deeply rooted in her church and devoted her life to her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her family.

June was the beloved wife of Robert "Bob" Hughes for 70 years and a devoted mother to her sons, Clay Hughes (Karen), and Scott Hughes (Missy). Loving mother-in-law to Cindi Hughes. She was a proud grandmother to Angel Sky (Daniel), Brook Foucheaux, Aaron Navarre, Seth Hughes (Claire), Chais Hughes (Kerry), Stephen Smith, Amber East, Samantha Faith, Ashley Revere (Justin), Lauren Emenes (Gage), and Maddie Hughes. She was also blessed with 20 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her tremendous joy. June also leaves behind many dear friends, especially Tim Shaw and his beloved wife and children, who were a cherished part of her life and a wonderful addition to her family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Hughes; and her grandsons, Sam Hughes and Lee Holloway, as well as her parents, Grover and Clara Binkley.

June’s life was marked by her unwavering faith and her selfless dedication to her family. As a homemaker, she took great pride in caring for her husband and raising her sons, always placing her family first. Her home was a place of love, stability, and quiet strength. Once her children flew the nest, she had one more accomplishment on her list to check off, going back to school to earn her GED, which she did while she was in her late 50s. This accolade brought her so much pride and joy, and her family was there to root her on every step of the way.

She and her husband, Bob, shared many travel adventures alongside her dearest friend, Vera Bardwell, creating memories she cherished throughout her life. June will be remembered for her playful personality, warm spirit, and genuine love for others. She had a special way of making people feel welcome and valued, and her presence will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, located at 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Cooper Cemetery in Robert, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Gene Fletcher, Tim Shaw, Seth Hughes, Chais Hughes, Will Foucheaux, and Braxton Emenes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Hughes and Logan Hughes.

June Ann Binkley Hughes leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family-values that will continue to live on for generations.
