Joyce Alene Green Waites Sharp

Joyce Alene Green Waites Sharp, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on October 10, 1939, in Monroe, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Al Green and Otta Estelle Baker Green.

Joyce is survived by her son, Garland Waites Jr. (Yvette); grandchildren, Kevin Parker (Courtney), Roscoe "Luke" Cook (Mandy), Kasey E. Cook, and Jessica Lynn Waites; great grandchildren, Kaleigh Hebert (Jon), Ruby Parker, Olivia Greer Cook, Emma Grace Cook, Matthew Cook (Khloe), Megan Prine, and Treylan Waites; great great grandchildren, Marlee Hebert, Colston Hebert, Brynlea Hebert, and Everleigh Cook; brother, James Alvie Gilbert (Evelyn); and sister-in-law, Anne Gilbert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands, Garland Waites Sr. and Walter True "Bubba" Sharp; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Jimmy Cook; grandson, Garland "Trey" Waites III; and brothers, Dr. Robert Daniel Gilbert and Matthew Wilson Gilbert.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 1:00 pm until the memorial service begins at 2:00 pm. 

Joyce's final resting place will be Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
