Joyce Audrey Hooper Merritt

After 90 years of a life filled with love, Joyce Audrey Hooper Merritt passed away on March 2, 2023, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Joyce was born in England on October 20, 1932, to Arthur and Ethel Hooper. She and her husband, Byron Merritt, who preceded her in death, resided in Loranger, Louisiana upon his military retirement.

Joyce was happiest with dirt under her fingernails; she loved working in her flower beds and sharing the abundance of her vegetable garden. She loved dogs of every kind, especially Lucy, her special companion after BP passed. She spent many hours knitting, crocheting, and sewing, leaving her loved ones with many memorable keepsakes.

Since she was an only child, she loved her big family. Her children, Judy White (Donald) and Brad Merritt (Cindy) and grandchildren, Paul, Matthew, Sarah, Hannah, Braden, Brett, and Bryce, and twenty-two great-grandchildren, were blessed by her love.

Her family gives a special thanks to her caregivers in Edmond, Oklahoma at Villagio of Bradford Assisted Living and Traditions Hospice, for their compassion and love for Joyce.

Joyce will be laid to rest next to BP at the Loranger Community Cemetery in Loranger, Louisiana.
