Joy Jackson Mitchell

Joy Jackson Mitchell, of Springfield, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the age of 72. She was born on March 22, 1949, in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Wallace Nicholas and Grace Featherstone Nicholas. Joy earned her master’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and retired as an educational diagnostician from the Livingston Parish School Board. She had a passion for education and dedicated herself to enriching the lives of children. Joy loved living on the river and spending time with her grandchildren.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Denise Jackson Martin and her husband Cody; grandchildren Gavin, Jackson and Madeleine Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family.

In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Mitchell and sister, Betsy Swanson and her husband Gary.

Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering to celebrate Joy's life on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Carter Plantation in the Ballroom Bistro, 23475 Carter Trace Springfield LA, 70462. In honor of Joy's love for the Green Bay Packers, we will be showing the game and everyone is encouraged to wear something Packers related.
