Joseph Anthony Recile

Joseph Anthony Recile, a native of Independence, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born on December 27, 1939 the son of the late Tony Recile and Corrina Barcia Recile. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a medic. He was a merchant seaman for over 35 years until he retired and loved being on boats. Joe was a joyful and generous person. Known as "Black Joe" to many, he was always smiling and ready to help anyone, and he never met a stranger. Joe loved his family with his whole heart and will be greatly missed.

Joe is survived by his sisters, Dolly Recile Morgan and husband Buster, and Sandra "Bonnie" Recile Powell and husband Robert; nieces and nephews, Michelle Morgan Pourciau and husband Ricky, April Morgan Presica and husband Joe, Fred Fletcher and wife Kristie, Kimberly Fletcher Petermann and husband Patrick, Nicholas Fletcher and wife Brandi, Jessica Powell Blystone and husband Elijah, Cindy Recile, and Ronnie Recile; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Sammy Recile, Salvador Recile, and Anthony Recile, and his nephew and godson, Salvador Recile Jr.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am, with Bro. Tommy Cain officiating.

Entombment will follow at Colonial Cemetery in Independence, Louisiana.
