Joseph William Puma, Sr.

Joseph William Puma, Sr., of  Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the age of 65. He was born on Saturday, January 3, 1959, in Norfolk, Virginia.

Joe began playing music at the age of 9, and became a  Licensed Minister of the Gospel, who led praise and worship throughout his time in ministry both in church and for Cowboy’s For Christ in Angola Prison every Sunday for years. 

He was a successful Business Owner/Entrepreneur, holding licenses’ which included Louisiana Master Plumbing, Louisiana State Electrical, Louisiana State Mechanical, Louisiana State Master Gas Fitter and Certified Generac Generator Technician, utilizing all above named licenses and certifications as well as multiple successful endeavors in real estate/rental properties.

He is referred to by family as a loving and caring father, grandfather and husband. He was not one to ever meet a stranger and had served as a friend and counselor to many.

Joseph is survived by his Spouse, Debbie Bourgeois Puma and her children; Stepdaughter, Joelene Chimenco and Husband Jake; Stepson, Jensen Pierre; Former Spouse; Mary Elizabeth and their children; Daughter, Mary Puma; Son, Joseph “Joey” Puma, Jr.; Son, Guytano "Guy" Puma, and his Fiance, Angel Gonsoulin; Brother, Guy and Wife Debbie Puma; Aunt, Mary Bardwell; Grandchildren, Naomi (Justin), Amya, Brooklyn, Alyssa, Kara, Caleb, Jacob, Abrahm, Jeremiah, Breanna, Seana, Amelia, Abigail, Karsynn, Colin,  Joshua, Trevor, and Gavin; Great Grandchildren, Aisleigh, Tylor and Chelslynn, Cayden, Niece, Brittany and Nephew, Trent.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bethel Christian "Chrissy" Puma, Parents, Gaytano "Guy" Joseph Puma and Barbara Harper Puma.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.

The family would also like to invite everyone to gather at Joe's house after the service to celebrate his life.
