Joseph A. Palassie, 84, of Robert, LA., was surrounded by family and friends as he danced through those pearly gates on June 14, 2023.

Joseph was born February 11, 1939, in New Orleans, LA to the late Lawrence Palassie and Dolores Estopinal Palassie.

Joseph was a kind, joyful, caring, and loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and friend to so many.  He loved with his whole heart and loved to dance wherever he went, and was and avid LSU and Saints fan.  He was our families’ Beloved Patriarch. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Violet, La for 40 years until he was relocated to Hammond, where he then joined Holy Ghost Catholic Church.    

He grew up in Arabi, Louisiana. After high school he joined the Army National Guard and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma during the Cuban crisis, working as an X-ray Technician on a Med/Vac unit.  He later moved back to New Orleans to begin working as a salesman for 7up Bottling and Big Shot Beverage Company.  After losing his parents at a young age, his home in Katrina, his wife and daughter, along with his eyesight, Joseph remained strong in his faith and exuded positivity and love.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin, Anthony; siblings; wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Palassie; daughter, Susan Henderson, and many beloved friends and family. 

He is survived by his daughter and son in-law, Catherine and Tommy Lucas; grandchildren, Allison, Ben and Kate Lucas; along with son in-law, Jerrod Henderson (Susan), In addition to numerous nieces and nephews, and relatives who adore him. 

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana.  Visitation will be held June 30, 2023, from 10am-12pm with a prayer service starting at 11am with Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina. 

Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.

Donations can be made to the Lighthouse for the Blind in his memory.
