Johnnie Lou Meuret Champlin passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at her home, with her children by her side, at the age of 90. She was born on February 18, 1935, in Loranger, Louisiana to Bessie Simpson Meuret and the late John Charles Meuret. It snowed that day. She was a resident of Loranger, Louisiana where she lived her entire life, teaching school, raising her family, and working beside her husband, Kenneth, operating the Champlin Dairy Farm.
Johnnie is survived by her son, Clifford Alan Champlin (Patty); her daughter, Dorothy Elaine Boyette (Randy); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris Juanita Meuret Bankston, and even more numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Ray Champlin; son, Michael Wayne Champlin (Gwen); great grandson, David Alan Champlin; sisters, Marie Puls, Louise Wall, Freda Samuels; and brothers, Fred Allen Gerstein, and William “Buck” Gerstein.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at the Loranger Legacy Church, 19403 Magnolia Street, Loranger, Louisiana on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow at the Loranger Community Cemetery, Highway 40, Loranger, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Loranger Legacy Church Vacation Bible School.
The family would like to express gratitude to Hospice of Baton Rouge and the Tangipahoa Council on Aging for their loving support and guidance in caring for our mother in the final days of her life.
