“Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. John R. Hayden was born May 13, 1945, in Hammond, LA to the late Winston “Sue” Edward and Evelyn Russell Hayden and passed away at his home on November 5, 2022 in Hammond at the age of 77.  John served as a jet engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam.  He loved God, his family, his church family, and friends.  He was an avid music fan and enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach.  John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna Lavigne Hayden; children, Dr. Heloise Hayden, and John Wesley Hayden (Angela); sister, Evelyn Sue Hayden Stilley (Bo); brother, James Wesley Hayden (Sheila); grandchildren, Bailey Morgan, Madison Morgan, and Zachary Hayden; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Monday, November 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 8, 2022, after 9:00 a.m. until funeral services at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Pastor Eddie Robertson and Pastor Evan Pitts.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  A special thanks to his sisters-in-law, Carman Lavigne and Tanis Warden, for their love and care and to Evangeline and Ashley with Bridgeway Hospice.
