John M. Whann, Jr.

John was born June 15, 1934in New Orleans, LA to the late John M. Monroe, Sr. and Margaret TamborellaWhann.  He passed away April 6, 2021, in Hammond, LA at the age of86.  He was a member of Calvary Christian Center, a retired truck driverfor ABF in Metairie, LA and enjoyed fishing and working in his yard.  Heis survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Compton Whann; son, John M. Whann,III (Sharon); daughters, Rebecca Majesty, and Vickie Helg (Dennis, Sr.);brother, Robert Whann, Sr.; grandchildren, Tracy, Denny, Melissa, Jesse, Jr.,Brandon, Christian and Heath; and twelve great grandchildren.  John ispreceded in death by his mother in law and father in law, Bessie Mae andFrancis David Compton, Sr; son in law, Jesse Majesty, Sr.; and sisters, Pearl,Virginia, Alice, Rose, and Kathryn.  Visitation will be Saturday, April10, 2021, at Harry McKneely Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, from 11 am until religious services at 1 pm.  Interment will follow in SandhillCemetery.
