John Iverson Jenkins

John Iverson Jenkins, of Albany, Louisiana, passed away at home on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the age of 61. He was born on Tuesday, February 6, 1962, in Independence, Louisiana.

John was a loving husband of 42 years, his most precious treasure was his son, Cody. He loved his family and friends with all his heart and would do everything he could to help anyone. If you were John's friend, it was something he took seriously, you had a real friend in John. He and Mary Nell owned the Metal Depot for 30-plus years.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Jenkins; son & daughter-in-law, Cody and Morgan Jenkins, sister, Linda  Gatlin, brother & sister-in-law, Norman and Rachel Jenkins, brother & sister-in-law, Skipper, and Rose Jenkins; sister-in-law, Becky Smith, brother-in-law's, Ben  Smith (Brenda), Danny Smith (Penny) and Gary Smith (Phyllis); also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Jenkins Sr. and Mary Gregoire Booty; grandparents, Leonard and Hazel Gregoire; father and mother-in-law, Chester and Pauline Smith; brother-in-laws, Jimmy Gatlin and  Leonard Smith, uncles, Paul Gregoire and L.W.  Gregoire.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

A celebration of John's life will be held at Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday at 3:00 pm.
