John Francis Smiley

John Francis Smiley passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the age of 94. He was born on Thursday, June 10, 1926, in Springfield, Louisiana. John was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was a resident of Springfield, Louisiana.

John is survived by his 3 daughters, Donna Hayden and her husband John, Carman Lavigne, and Tanis Warden and her husband Steve; 2 sons, Michael Smiley and his wife Joy and Thomas Smiley and his wife Beverly; sister, Eva Smiley Wall; grandchildren, Dr. Heloise Hayden, John Wesley Hayden, Kenneth Barr, James Barr, Moira Smoak, Heather Walker, Joseph Smiley, John Edward Smiley, Shelbie Tozer, Chance Smiley, Ashley Smiley and Daniel Smiley; also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Heloise Lee Smiley; parents, Elphege and Mary Barnum Smiley; daughter, Rebecca Barr; siblings, Luther, Elzy, Shelby, John, Brady, Dorothy, Winnie, and Jack; and brother-in-law, Dick Wall.

Visitation for Family and friends will be on Sunday, September 6, 2020 from 12:00 pm until the Funeral Service begins at 2:00 pm, at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, La. 70401.

Interment will follow at Carter Cemetery in Springfield, Louisiana.
