John Eugene Harris Jr.

Mr. John E. Harris Jr., a resident of Tickfaw, La., passed away peacefully on Saturday the 12th of Febraury, 2022 with family members present. John Graduated school in 1974 and went into the Navy. He served ten years and did two tours on the USS-FORRESTAL, and USS-AMERICA. John was honorably discharged in 1983. He went on to be a police officer in Biloxi, from there he managed the Exxon station in Pennsacola. John then went on to work for Reliable Amusements where he acquired the nick name "Poker John". John has spent the last twenty-three years working for Ferrera Fire Apparatus in Holden with a passion for building fire trucks.

John was preceded in death by his parents Martha and John Harris Sr. He is survived by his wife, Samantha, sons, Jonathan and his wife Rachel , Jason, Jared, Jordan, Brian and his wife Brandy, daughter, Deedee and her husband Leslie. Grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Kylie, Nathaniel, Aliyah, Ava, Jacob, Addie, Bella.

John will be sorely missed by his family and many, many friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial Service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 4:00 pm. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
