John Edwards Woods, Sr.

John Edward Woods, Sr. passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021, in Independence, Louisiana, at the age of 81.  He was born on Sunday, November 12, 1939 in Henderson, Texas to the late Vena Padgett Woods and the late Elvin Elmer Woods.  He was a resident of Independence, Louisiana. John was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the New Orleans Police Department after 20 years.

John is survived by his children, John Woods, Jr. (Danielle), Natalie Barcia (Roy), and Tara Chapko; grandchildren, Landon Woods, John Woods III, and Kylie Woods; sisters, Pat McAllister, Linda Woods Talley, and Nancy Woods Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elvin Elmer Woods; mother, Vena Padgett Woods; and son-in-law, Brian Chapko.

Services for John will be private.
