John W. Eady Sr.

John W. Eady, Sr. passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 76.  He was born on Friday, May 16, 1947, in Alhambra, California to the late Constance and Herman Eady.  He was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.  John came from a large family of 13 siblings, learning the value of family time and being together.  He served his community as a police officer for many years and loved every moment of it.  John could build, fix, work on anything.  He never met a stranger and loved to talk to anyone.  John was passionate about reading and preaching the word of God. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  

John is survived by his children, Stephanie Eady, John Eady Jr., Rachel Eady, and Connie Bertus; siblings, Herman Eady, Margaret Wintz, Theresa Wilkinson and Frances Eady; and grandchildren, Dillon, Katie, Samantha, Kristen and Seth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Constance Eady; as well as his siblings, Constance Ramsey, Georgia Canton, Oline Frere, Rowena Duck, Sally Jane, Rose Mary Majesty, Thomas Eady and Robert Eady. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 am, until Services begin at 1:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
