John passed away on Wednesday, October 13th, 2021 at North Oaks Medical Center. He graduated from St. Francis (Vanderbuilt) High School in Houma in 1955, Tulane University in 1959 with his B.S., LSU Medical School with his M.D. in 1964. He completed his internship at Southern Baptist Hospital 1965 then served his residency at the LSU Department of Surgery until 1969. John became a Diplomate on the American Board of Surgery in 1970 and served his country in the U.S. Public Health Service from 1969 – 1970 in General Surgery. From 1971 – 1987 was a part of a General Surgery Private Practice in New Orleans. Then he began his residency at LSU Department of Anesthesiology in New Orleans until 1990, afterwards he practiced Anesthesiology until he achieved Chief of Anesthesia at Meadocrest Hospital in 1996. Opportunity called his name at Chalmette Medical Centre where he became Chief of Anesthesia until 1999, afterwhich he retired. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be deeply missed.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty Buck; sons, Steven Buck, Robert Buck and wife Kimberly, and Richard Buck; sister, Sydney Domangue and husband Danny; grandchildren, John Buck IV, Jenna Buck, Tristan Steinmann and wife Emily, Paige E. Buck and Baily Depre; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as nephews, Minor Paul and Paul; nieces, Dannette, Madeline and Natalie; and his special friends, Arlen Guidry and Vick Cooper.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Sydney Buck, and his son, John E. Buck III.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Ponchatoula Fire Department for always coming to his aid, as well as Dr. Greg Allen for his care and professionalism and along with the 3rd floor nurses for their compassion during his time of need, which was greatly appreciated.
A graveside service will be held in Magnolia Cemetery in Houma, LA on November 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
