Joan Nichols Dephillips

Joan Nichols DePhillips, 87 years old of Loranger, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in the home of family on Sunday, July 10, 2022. She was born on March 26, 1935, in Louin, Mississippi, daughter of G. A. and Susan Malvina (McNeil) Nichols.

On April 26, 1953, Joan was married to Charles Wayne DePhillips. They made their lifelong home in Loranger as dairy and chicken farmers, where they were overjoyed to welcome into their home their only son Charles Lynn DePhillips.

 

Joan is survived by her beloved daughter-in-law Natalie DePhillips; grandson Josh DePhillips, and his wife Morganne; grandson Trevor DePhillips; great-granddaughters Audrey and Elle; great-grandson Luke; nieces, Brenda Hall and Genece Doolittle; by her loving caregiver, great-niece, Patrice Doolittle; and by many other great-nephews, great-nieces, and their families.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, G. A. and Malvina Nichols; her loving husband of 62 years, Charles DePhillips; her beloved son, Lynn DePhillips; sister and brother-in-law, Nya and Douglas Hall; sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Byron Pruitt; nieces, Alice and JoBeth Hall; and nephew, James Hall. Joan was a quiet, capable woman. She was an astute bookkeeper for both the family business and at Rossie Furniture in Hammond for many years. In addition to being a resourceful business-woman, Joan enjoyed painting and playing the piano. She loved her Lord and her family.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Oak Grove Church of God, 23174 Louisiana Highway 40, Loranger, Louisiana, from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
