Joan Alice Duplessis

Joan Alice Duplessis, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at Belle Maison Nursing Home on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the age of 85. She was born on Wednesday, September 16, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Troy and Alice Decoteau Duplessis.

After graduating from Ponchatoula High School in 1954, Joan entered the Order of School Sisters of Notre Dame. She served as a Nun for 35 years before becoming a custodian at St. Joseph Catholic School in Ponchatoula until her retirement. Joan said the rosary for many years at Belle Maison Nursing Home before becoming a resident there.

Joan is survived by her sisters, Ruth D. Ourso,  Ann D. Prine, and sister and brother-in-law, Lois D. and Willie Freeman, brother & sister-in-law, Troy and Carol Duplessis Jr, and numerous nieces and  nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy "Dot" Duplessis brothers-in-law, Ernest "Gee Gee" Ourso and Dillon Prine.

A Graveside Service will be held at Ponchatoula Cemetery on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm, with Deacon Larry Melancon officiating.

Interment will follow in the Ponchatoula Cemetery.
