Jerry Lee Meek was born on August 29th, 1955, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Roy and Dorothy (Perkins) Meek. He was a 1973 graduate of Jenks, OK high school. He and Cynthia (Eck) Meek were married February 7th, 1976. They started their life together in Jenks but soon moved to Bartlett, KS, where they lived for 21 years. In that period of time, Jerry built a house for his family and had a variety of jobs, including working on the Eck family dairy farm and over- the- road trucking. Jerry moved his family to Hammond, Louisiana in 1999. In Louisiana, he worked as a private contractor in the areas of carpentry and HVAC, including the position of disaster adjuster for the Small Business Administration, which he really enjoyed. In the final years before retirement, Jerry became an HVAC instructor at Baton Rouge Community College.
Jerry’s favorite hobbies included woodworking, in which he was a meticulous measurer. He was also a good welder and designed and built a large wood-burning rocket stove. He loved having animals around him, especially ducks, chickens, and dogs. He really enjoyed gardening and seemed to have a green thumb when planting fruit trees. He enjoyed playing table games and singing.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his older brother Terry Lane Meek. Jerry is survived by his wife, Cynthia (Eck) Meek of Guthrie, OK; his five children, Myron (Michelle) Meek of Loranger, LA, Rachel (Carlos) Doolittle of Loranger, LA, Andrea (Bryan) McLaughlin of Livingston, TX, Krista (Hamilton) of Holly Hill, SC and Elaine (Martin) Carpenter of Adrian, MO; and fifteen grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. He is survived by four siblings: Teddy Dale Meek of Colorado, DeWayne Charles Meek, Beverly Anderson, and Terri (Scott) Wolf, all of Oklahoma.
Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Jerry passed away at the age of 70 in his daughter’s home in Loranger, LA.
