Jerry Edward Benton, age eighty-one passed away Thursday, November 11th during a nap in his recliner, sitting by the side of his wife of 61 years, Mable Ann Benton.

What a way to be taken! In the arms of the angels delivered straight to heaven to be with our Lord God and many members of our family including his father, Edward P. Benton, mother, Marry Adell Benton and brother, Vernon Benton. He will surely be missed!

Jerry is survived by three children and their spouses Laurie Mosher (Gordon) Sharon McDonnell (Charles) David Benton (Ashlie), seven grandchildren and their spouses, Megan Mosher, Chaz McDonnell (Shellie), Caitlyn Sanchez (Eric) Amanda Hewes (Ryan) Danielle Benton (fiancé Dakota McKey) Phillip Mosher and Austin Benton. Three great grandchildren, Jase Sanchez, Emra Sanchez and Cash McDonnell. One sister-in-law Judy Benton Albee. Numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Jerry was a very hard working, conscientious man. He and his wife owned Jerry Benton's Htg & A/C for 49 years. During that time, they made many friends.

Jerry and his wife enjoyed having gatherings of family and friends, square dancing at an earlier time in life and bluegrass festivals with camping.

Due to declining health for the past five years, he did very little outside the home activities. He enjoyed being with his family and having crawfish boils.

Jerry has been a devout Christian from an earlier age. He has been a deacon for 46 years. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond La. 70401. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service begins at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Tickfaw, Louisiana.
