Janessa Ann Whittington passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 56. She was born on Wednesday, January 14, 1970 in Hammond, Louisiana. She was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Janessa was a devoted and loving mother and a proud, cherished grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured every moment spent together, whether it was sharing stories, laughter, or simply being in each other’s presence. Her love was steady, unconditional, and felt deeply by all who knew her. She found true happiness in the outdoors, embracing the beauty of nature and the peace it brought her. Whether enjoying a quiet day outside or gathering with loved ones, she appreciated life’s simple pleasures and made every moment meaningful. Her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit touched so many lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and treasured memories that will live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered
Janessa is survived by her father, Robert Earl Whittington; children, Brandon Burns (Megan), Brianna Burns Kepner (Tyler), and John Burns; grandchildren, Emma Burns, Ellison Burns, Mae Burns, Maggie Burns, and Britain Burns; siblings, Aubrey Whittington (Heather), Jeremy Whittington (Debbie), Jayme Whittington (Nicole), and Stacey Norman; nieces and nephews, Kali O'Keefe (Sammie), Graysen Galeano, Peyton Whittington, Tristyn Vicknair (Donnie), Tyler Whittington (Savannah), Mason Whittington, Braden Whittington, Landon Whittington, Bishop Gehegan, Graci O'Neill, Gauge O'Neill, and Maleigha Norman; and grandpups, Roux Michael Burns and Brute Michael Kepner.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, John William Burns; her paternal grandparents, Ray and Della Mae Whittington; and her nephew Jordan Patterson.
Family and friends are warmly invited to a celebration of life for Janessa on Saturday March 28th, 2026 at 12:00 PM at 230 Beechwood Drive, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, where we will gather to share memories, laughter, and love in honor of a beautiful life.
