Jane Alber Smith passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at her residence in Kenner, Louisiana, at the age of 88. She was born on Tuesday, September 18, 1928, in Meridian, Mississippi to the late Mattie Eaves Smith and Elmer Smith, Sr.
Jane was a loving mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Jane is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Loree Labatut Krajcer & James Krajcer; son & daughter-in-law, Lawrence Vincent Labatut, Jr. & Sari Labatut; sister, Alice Robison, six grandchildren, Angelle Melancon, Matthew Labatut, Deborah Labatut, Tré Krajcer, Logan Krajcer, and Jake Krajcer; three great-grandchildren, Donovan, Gabrielle, and Casandra; and twin great-great-grandsons, Chandler and Chase. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Jane Sarver; infant grandson, Lawrence Vincent Labatut, III; parents, Mattie & Elmer Smith, Sr; three brothers, Elmer Smith, Jr., Bobby Smith, and Robert Earl Smith; three sisters, Elizabeth Allen, Retha Carol Smith, and Margaret Faye Guillot.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Road, Destrehan, Louisiana 70047, on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Thursday morning at 10:00 am and continue until service time.
Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose, Louisiana.
