James Whitaker

James Allen Whitaker passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 58.  He was born on Thursday, September 2, 1965 in Metairie, Louisiana to the late Hazel Rita West.  He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

James is survived by his sons, Jonathan Whitaker, Justin Whitaker and his wife, Samantha, and Jason Whitaker; grandchildren, Asher Whitaker and Emery Whitaker; and siblings, Billy West, Brenda West, Elizabeth Hardy, Sheila West, Charles West, Eric Guttuso, and Cathy Guttuso.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Sherwood Whitaker; his mother, Hazel Rita West; and his sister, Bonnie West.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Saturday, December 30, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 1:00 PM.

Interment will follow in Rosaryville Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
