James “Roland” Reid, born July 30, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on November 14, 2025, at East Jefferson General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. A proud and retired Marine with 21 years of service, Roland was a Vietnam veteran whose life reflected unwavering patriotism, deep devotion to his country, and steadfast loyalty to those he loved. His love for the Lord and dedication to his church shined through in the countless hours he spent laboring to help build Victory in Prayer Church, a place that held a special spot in his heart.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda; three sons-James Reid, Jeremy Ebarb, and Jarrett McMorris-and five daughters: Jessi McMorris, Jennifer Bateman, Nicole Reid (Jared), Misty Raborn (Wayne), and Caylynn Cutrer (Marvin). He is also survived by his siblings: Shirley White, Herman Reid, and Albert Reid Jr., along with many extended family members who loved him dearly. Roland was a beloved Papa to twelve grandchildren-Emma, Ella, Beaux, Daisy, Landon, Beckett, Bonner, Berklea, Braison, Baylen, Courtney, and Katelyne -and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind special family members who held a meaningful place in his life: Ava Lankford, Chambrae Thames, and Destiny McNeese.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vinie and Albert Reid; his brother, Wesley Reid; his sister, Hilda Rodriguez; and one grandchild, Jaylen Ebarb.
Roland will be remembered for his courage, his service, his strong faith, his humor, and the deep love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on in each of them.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Victory in Prayer Outreach Ministries, 22154 Hwy 40, Loranger, Louisiana 70446, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 1:00 PM.
Interment will follow in Briar Patch Cemetery, Loranger, Louisiana.
