James Martin "Jimmy" Bankston

James Martin "Jimmy" Bankston, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the age of 79. He was born on August 9, 1942, in Madisonville, Louisiana, the son of the late George Martin Bankston and Margie McLaughlin Bankston. Jimmy was a proud life member of the Ponchatoula Volunteer Fire Department and a volunteer EMT for over 40 years. He worked as a biologist and retired from Rubicon Chemical in Geismer. Jimmy was an avid hunter and had a vast knowledge of world history. Above all else, he was a dearly loved husband, father and grandfather.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Diane Braun Bankston; children, Lauri Brocato, Barry Bankston, Jamie Bankston, Lisa K. Jackson, and Jason R. Kraemer; grandchildren, Brandy, Laurel, Jeremy, Baileigh, Brenleigh, Kraemer, Kirsten, Kerrigan, Kennedy, Ryder, and Lincoln; brothers, Michael and Aubrey Bankston; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, James Todd Bankston.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jack Palmer officiating.

Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
