James Royce Lloyd, Jr.

James Royce Lloyd, Jr. was born July 30, 1959, in Independence to the late Sarah Garofola Lloyd and James Royce Lloyd, Sr.  He passed away January 8, 2024, at Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson.  James was a resident of Tickfaw and was a retired welder for Southeastern Louisiana University.  He was a Chevrolet enthusiast and was a devout and devoted Christian.  One of his passions was helping others and was often heard saying “If you not here to help others, what are you here for”, “It’s mind over matter” and “It’s all about the know how”.  James is survived by his son and caretaker, Eric Lloyd (Ashley); son, Steven Lloyd (Paige); daughter, Amanda Lloyd; sisters, Maria Brewer, Marian Monistere, and Sarah Hodges; grandchildren, Wesley, Wyatt, Levi, Eleanor, Annabelle, Cecilia, and Arya; and a friend in Christ, Chad Cochennic.  In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death and welcomed home by his son, Nicholas Lloyd.  Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Monday, January 15, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until services at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Our Lady of Pompeii Cemetery in Tickfaw.
