James "Jim" Clayton Gillespie

James "Jim" Clayton Gillespie  passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 surrounded by his family, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 84.  He was born on Thursday, June 2, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Lillian Sherman Gillespie and James Gillespie.  

James is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Peggy Jean Crittenden Gillespie; children, Jimmie Lynn Gillespie, Clay Gillespie, Renee Coates, Yvonne Stokes, Toni Murry, Kelly Simmons, and Mitchel Simmons.  Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and James Gillespie; and his brother, Donny Gillespie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 am.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until 11:00 am.
