James Harvey Redmond Jr.

James Harvey Redmond Jr., age83, died August 4, 2022, with his wife Carol Redmond and family at his side.

 

James was born on June 13, 1939,in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Ethel and James H. Duke Redmond Sr. He had three siblings: Glenda Jacobs, the late Donald Redmond, and Mack Redmond. He is survived by his children Mike Redmond, Robin Lincecum, and Leslie Buie; grandchildren, Christian & Cassidy Redmond, Brandon & Ryan Lincecum, and Casey Buie.

 

Early in life, James was a member of the Army National Guard, and worked with his father, Duke, and brother, Donald, in the family house, moving business, Redmond & Sons, Inc. In1968, James and the family business relocated from Monroe, Louisiana to LaPlace, Louisiana, and resided there until 1974. James had a passion for drag racing and spent many weekends on the track with his father, Duke, and son, Mike, as his race team.

 

In 1974, James and his family moved to Buras, Louisiana where he met his wife, Carol. James and Carol worked together at Daybrook Fisheries in Empire, La from 1976 to 2001. James was a member of the Venice, La Lions Club until it disbanded in the 1980s, and a current member of Ham Radio Club “SELARC” Southeast Louisiana Amateur Radio Club since 2003. His call sign is K5QNT

 

James and Carol moved to Tickfaw, La. n 2001 where they’ve enjoyed retirement. James was an avid animal lover and the many causes benefitting them.

 

A funeral service will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home located at 2000 Morrison Ave. Hammond, LA. on Monday August 8, 2022, at 11:00am – 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Rosaryville Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
