James Carruth Simpson

James Carruth Simpson passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 77.  He was born on Sunday, February 25, 1940 in Hammond, Louisiana to the late Anna Kent Carruth Simpson and the late John Brooks Simpson.  He was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana.

James is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Raye Lee Osborn Simpson; daughter, Elizabeth Simpson Simms and her husband Robert; sister, Jean Simpson Blanche and her husband Robert; granddaughters, Sara Elizabeth Simms, and Leah Marie Simms; grandsons, Christopher Simms and his wife Ashley, Kenneth Simms and his wife Adrianne, and Robbie Simms; and great-grandchildren, Braden, Hunter, and Avery Rose.  

He was preceded in death by his father, John Brooks Simpson; mother, Anna Kent Carruth Simpson; son, James Brooks Simpson; two brothers, John Brooks Simpson, Jr., and Lee Davis Simpson; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, 100 West Church Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
