Jackson âJackâ E. Nelson
Jack went to his heavenly home on Thursday, July 7, 2022, in Hammond, Louisiana at the age of 87. Â He retired as a Heavy Machinery Operator in the Local 406 of Operating Engineers. Â Jack was always keeping himself busy even after he retired, truck driving, hauling logs, or trying his luck at the casino. Â His true passion was showing off his beautiful cars at the car shows with his friends. Â Jack was truly loved by his family and friends and is already deeply missed. Â
He is survived by his daughters, Ernestine Kay Folse (Randy), Linda Nelson Chesnutt (Bill), Joyce Ann Scanlon (Brett), Karen Fay Hemphill, Deborah Nelson Chesnutt (Chris), Susan Nelson Chesnutt (Joe), Cynthia Ann Husser; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Katherine Oliveaux (Jim), Rosie Newsom, Clifford Lee Nelson (Kim); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jack in death are his wives, Shirley Mae Parks and Flora McLendon; brother, Floyd Nelson; and a grandson, Harry William Chesnutt Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Louisiana on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Herman Cemetery in Mt. Herman, Louisiana.
