Jackie James Lamonte, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the age of 72, surrounded by his family. He was born on Monday, October 26, 1953, in Independence, Louisiana, the son of the late Buster P. Lamonte and the late Frances Cora Migliacio Restivo Lamonte. Jackie was known by all who met him as the kindest and gentlest person.
Jackie dedicated 35 years of service to Southeastern Louisiana University before retiring. He found great joy in the simple pleasures in life. Jackie loved to fish; he built birdhouses with great care and delighted in drawing. Jackie loved the open road and often took drives with no destination in mind, just enjoying the journey.
Above all else, Jackie treasured his family and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. His bond with his sisters was especially deep, and he shared a profound closeness with his sister Susan, who cared for him with care and devotion and, in many ways, was like a mother to him.
Jackie is survived by his sisters, Sandy LaBruzzo and Vita Susan Sinagra and her husband, Frank; brother-in-law, Keith Alan Toczek, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by his brother, Buster P. Lamonte Jr.; sister, Cathy Lamonte Toczek; and brother-in-law, Frank LaBruzzo.
